On 11 July 2026, Festival de Cine Girasoles de Rancagua took place in the Chilean city of Rancagua. Dedicated to independent short films, the festival brought together filmmakers and industry professionals from several countries.
The international jury included two representatives of Genesis International Film Festival: director, co-founder and GIFF Programme Director Timur Ramazanov, and producer, co-founder and Programme Director Alexandra Novokrechshina.
Together with their international colleagues, they evaluated the competition programme and selected its outstanding films. The jury considered the entries from a range of professional and cultural perspectives, focusing on direction, storytelling, visual language and the overall integrity of each filmmaker’s artistic vision.
As part of the collaboration, the festivals also introduced the special Genesis Award, supported by Genesis International Film Festival. The award was presented to the Chilean films La noche que dejé atrás and El cuero. The filmmakers were subsequently invited to submit their works for consideration for the GIFF programme in Moscow.
Participation in Festival de Cine Girasoles de Rancagua continues GIFF’s international work, encouraging professional exchange, supporting independent filmmakers and strengthening connections between film communities in Russia, Chile and other countries.
